Dr Maxwell has a special interest and knowledge in the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of sports and athletic injuries, including movement-based care for optimal health and performance.
Dr Maxwell is an active mentor and educator - he has organized and presented hundreds of post graduate courses, including several regional and international conferences.
Dr. Maxwell is Certified International Instructor for Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) - education sought by Physiotherapists, Chiropractors and allied rehabilitation professionals around the globe.
He is also Canada's only Certified International Instructor of Neurodynamic Solutions - a world-renowned system of evaluating and managing nerve injuries, including but not limited to lumbar disc herniation and sciatica, neck and radiating arm pain, thoracic outlet syndrome, cervicogenic headache, and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Dr. Maxwell also leads post-graduate courses on shoulder injury assessment and rehabilitation.

Dr. Michael Maxwell holds an Honours Bachelor of Human Kinetics - Exercise Science degree from the University of British Columbia and graduated Suma Cum Laude from Western States Chiropractic College. Dr. Maxwell is a member of the British Columbia Chiropractic Association and the BC College of Chiropractors. He was a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist from 2002-2012 and has been a rehabilitation and performance consultant since 1997. Dr. Maxwell was Chiropractic Consultant for Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton from 2007-2009, World Champion Ironman (age 30-34) Tommy Nielson and Ironman Champion Heather Wurtele, and Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Camosun Men's Volleyball team in 2003-2004. Dr Maxwell currently works with a variety of patients including recreational and elite athletes and the non-athlete looking for short and long-term strategies for pain resolution and improved function.
Dr. Maxwell's treatment approach includes a variety of treatment "tools" including:

Joint manipulation and graded mobilizations. He is a certified practitioner in Mulligan Mobilizations with Movement.

Exercise rehabilitation and corrective exercise: Dr. Maxwell has an extensive background in strength and conditioning and medical exercise.

He is NCCP Level 1 Weightlifting certified and spent 10 years in the trenches as a strength and conditioning coach, Medical Exercise Specialist, and Kinesiologist.
